Spectrometer Chemical Analysis using SPECTRO

Spectrometer Chemical Analysis using SPECTRO technology allows AFM to verify the exact chemical composition of each iron and steel melt before pouring, providing certainty that the metal being cast conforms to the specified alloy grade and will deliver the expected mechanical properties in the finished component. The spectrometer is calibrated against certified reference standards on a set schedule, so every result is accurate and reliable.

A small sample is taken from the melt and analysed by our SPECTRO spectrometer, which rapidly and accurately measures the concentration of all key elements in the alloy. Results are reviewed against the target specification, and any adjustment to the melt composition is made before casting begins.

This is one of the most important quality assurances we provide, because getting the chemistry right at the furnace means getting the performance right in the field.

01

Pre-Pour Melt Verification

Every iron and steel melt is analysed before pouring to confirm chemical composition falls within the required specification range.

02

Rapid, Accurate Results

SPECTRO analysis delivers fast and highly accurate elemental data, enabling prompt corrective action if required before production proceeds.

03

Full Element Coverage

Analysis covers all critical alloying and trace elements relevant to the specified material grade, providing a complete chemistry profile for each melt.

04

Documented Test Results

Spectrographic results are recorded and retained as part of the full material traceability record for every batch produced.
